East Kent Mind Veterans Group visits the Historic Dockyard ChathamA group of Veterans at Chatham Dockyard

A group of over 25 veterans took part in a memorable trip to the Historic Dockyard Chatham on Wednesday 10th April.

The Veterans were from four groups in the East Kent area: The Ramsgate Veterans Breakfast Club; The Canterbury Veterans Hub; The Thanet Female Veterans Group; and The Veterans Association in Birchington.

The trip was organised by the East Kent Mind Armed Forces Connector Karen Brinkman, who said: “It was wonderful to see so many Veterans come together for a day of connection and camaraderie. The highlights of the day were undoubtedly the ropery tour, exploring the RNLI 200th anniversary exhibition, and meeting the beloved Stormy Stan, the RNLI Mascot! We would also like to say a huge thanks to G4S for generously providing transportation.”

This East Kent Mind Veterans Project aims to combat social isolation by fostering new friendships, providing support, and offering engaging activities. The organisers were overjoyed when a veteran shared that it was their first time leaving Birchington in over six years!
