CBeebies Mister Maker starts Mental Elf Canterbury 2025
Last year’s Mental Elf event was a huge success, with more than 330 entrants taking part in the 5km route through Westgate Gardens. Participants ran, jogged and walked their way around the course, helping to create a joyful community event. The event starts at the Canterbury Umbrella Centre, with the 5km route taking participants through Toddler’s Cove, along the riverside walk within the Hambrook Marshes to Tonford Lake, before returning to finish back at the Umbrella Centre.
The route will be clearly marked, with stewards along the way to encourage participants and help guide them around the course.
Fancy dress is not essential, but it is strongly encouraged. Mental Elf is a chance to embrace the festive spirit, and we will once again be running competitions on the day, including best-dressed elf and best-dressed pet. Everyone who takes part will also receive a special 2026 Mental Elf medal.

Physical activity can play an important role in supporting mental health. Being active outdoors, spending time with others and taking part in community events can all help to reduce stress, improve mood and support overall wellbeing.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There will be no parking available at the Canterbury Umbrella Centre car park, so participants are encouraged to walk, jog, cycle, use public transport or car-share wherever possible.
