New ambassadors meet University Vice Chancellor

East Kent Mind has launched an Ambassador initiative to enlist members of the community to support its wellbeing work.

The students at the University of Kent were amongst the first to go through the training programme and will now be taking on social action projects to champion the work of the charity.

Included in their number were Katie Whitewood, Co-President of the newly launched East Kent Mind Society. This is a student society, linked to its parent charity, that will deliver a range of high profile events and activities both on campus and in the community.

More than 30 Ambassadors, which also includes students at Christ Church University and those not linked to higher education, have so far completed the first phase of their training.

Twenty attended a photocall with the Interim Vice Chancellor of the University of Kent Georgina Randseley de Moura, and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor Iain Wilkinson. This was followed by a planning meeting with East Kent Mind Development Lead, Simon Dolby.

Simon said: “We are thrilled the East Kent Mind Society co-Presidents Katie Whitewood and Rosie Hawkins have joined forces with other students to create the Society and we will work hard to help them make it a success. So far 30 students from the University of Kent have completed their Ambassador training and are now planning social action to support the work of East Kent Mind, but we are keen for more potential ambassadors to come forward.”
