Lord Mayor of Canterbury Launches East Kent Mind as Charity of the Year

The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Keji Moses
Keji Moses, the newly appointed Lord Mayor of Canterbury, officially announced East Kent Mind as her Charity of the Year.
The event at the ABode Canterbury, attended by a host of enthusiastic supporters, marked the beginning of a partnership dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing across the region.
Simon Dolby, Development Lead at East Kent Mind, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lord Mayor for her support. He outlined the significant impact the partnership aims to achieve, including the creation of at least 100 East Kent Mind Wellbeing Ambassadors throughout the district. These ambassadors will play a crucial role in promoting mental wellness and supporting those in need within local communities.
The launch also kicked off a series of fundraising events designed to unite the community and raise essential funds for mental health initiatives.

The Big Walk and Talk

East Kent Mind Development Lead, Simon Dolby
Sunday 6th July, Canterbury at 10am
Why take part?
Is it for your own mental health — to pause, reconnect and feel part of something?
Or in memory of someone lost to suicide, whose presence you carry in your heart?
Join us for a meaningful morning walking 3, 4, or 5km from Westgate Gardens, shoulder to shoulder with others — including the Lord Mayor — all united by a shared purpose:
To walk, to talk, to feel, and to remember.
Wear blue. Bring your dog. Walk in your own way.
Every step taken helps to raise awareness, break the silence, and fund vital mental health support across East Kent.
Together, let’s create a kinder, more connected community.

Thanks to all the attendees who helped support the Mayor’s charity launch
