Veterans Project receives funding boost from the Veterans’ Foundation

East Kent Mind is delighted to announce that our Veterans Project has received funding that will allow our work to continue for another three years – funded by The Veterans’ Foundation.

Since the launch of the Veterans Project in 2024, East Kent Mind has expanded its support for ex-military personnel across East Kent, fostering wellbeing, connection, and a sense of belonging.

Through partnerships with employers, healthcare providers, care homes, and community organisations, veterans have access to meaningful activities, social connections, and practical support tailored to their needs.

Karen Brinkman, the East Kent Mind Armed Forces Connector, said: “Thanks to the success of East Kent Mind’s Armed Forces Connector project over the past two years, we have secured a further three years of funding. This means we can continue supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families across Thanet and Canterbury, helping them access wellbeing support, community connections and opportunities to come together.

“Thank you to the Veterans’ Foundation for your continued support, which enables us to create meaningful connections, prevent isolation, and improve the lives of those who have served.”

Veteran Recognition Awards and Information Fair

One of the highlights of our Veterans calendar is the annual Veteran Recognition Awards and Information Fair. The Fair will be held on Tuesday 2 June at Augustine House Library in Canterbury. The event combines networking for ex-military along with an awards session that celebrates veteran support for the community.

More than a dozen information stands providing details of support available to ex-military, reservists and their adult family members will be in the information zone at the event, along with a coffee station providing complimentary refreshments for ticket holders.

If you would like to submit a nomination for the awards, the deadline is noon on Friday 8th May. Submit a nomination here

Tickets for the Veteran Recognition Awards and Information Fair can be purchased for the event: here
