Mind in Bexley and East Kent recognised for mental health training work

Mind in Bexley and East Kent has been named Best Mental Health First Aid Training Organisation 2026 – South East England in the GHP Mental Health Awards 2026.

The recognition highlights our ongoing work to support workplaces, schools, charities, community groups and organisations to build confidence around mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention.

Mind in Bexley and East Kent delivers a wide range of mental health education and training for organisations of different sizes and needs. The aim is to help staff, volunteers and teams feel more confident in recognising when someone may be struggling, responding with compassion and knowing how to guide people towards appropriate support.

Training is available for workplaces, schools and communities, with sessions designed to enhance understanding and build effective support for mental wellbeing.

Courses include Adult Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Mental Health for Managers, Adult Suicide Prevention Awareness, Youth Suicide Prevention Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, and MoneySkills training.

The charity can also create bespoke training sessions to meet the needs of individual organisations, with training delivered either in person or online.

Lynne Hallowell, Training Lead for Mind in Bexley and East Kent, said: “We are pleased that our training work has been recognised in the GHP Mental Health Awards. Mental health training is about giving people practical skills, knowledge and confidence so they can support others, look after their own wellbeing and help create more compassionate workplaces and communities.

“We know that many people want to help when someone is struggling, but may not always know what to say or where to signpost. Our training is designed to make those conversations feel more possible, while helping organisations build safer and more supportive cultures.”

Mental health training available

The training process starts with a free consultation to understand the needs of the organisation. From there, Mind in Bexley and East Kent can deliver expert-led training and provide ongoing support, including posters, signposting information and regular wellbeing tips to help keep mental health awareness active beyond the training session.

Training can be especially valuable for managers, frontline staff, volunteers, education settings and anyone who may come into contact with people experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, financial pressure, emotional distress or suicidal thoughts.

By investing in mental health education and training, organisations can help reduce stigma, encourage earlier conversations and ensure that staff feel better equipped to respond when someone needs support.
