Lord Mayor launches fundraising week for her Charity of the Year
The Lord Mayor of Canterbury has selected East Kent Mind as her Charity of the Year and is appealing to the public and businesses across the district to give their support.
The first Week of the July (30 June to 6 July) will be an initial focus of fundraising for the charity with a series of #WearItBlue themed events which supporters are invited to join in.

To help encourage positive conversations around mental health and to raise funds for the charity’s work locally, supporters are asked to stage social activities with friends, family or work colleagues such as walk and talks, coffee and cake get-togethers, art and craft sessions, or your own ideas.
When taking part you are encouraged to wear blue and to post those pictures on social media. Make sure you mention @eastkentmind and add the hashtag #WearItBlue.
On Friday, 4 July the Lord Mayor’s Fundraiser for East Kent Mind will be hosted by the Abode Hotel, High Street, Canterbury with every guest purchasing a ticket treated to a free Flirtini cocktail – a new mixology creation designed by the hotel. The event is supported by The Sustainable Printworks.
And on Sunday, 6 July at 10am a sponsored walk – titled The Big Walk and Talk – with the #WearItBlue theme will be staged from Canterbury’s Westgate Gardens.
All profits from fundraising and ticket sales will go directly to East Kent Mind – the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Charity of the Year – enabling us to support more local people with their mental health and wellbeing through our teams based at Revival Food and Mood at 58 High Street, Whitstable, Kent Community Oasis Garden at Rough Common, Canterbury and the Umbrella building, 54 William Street, Herne Bay.
Funds will also be used to enable East Kent Mind to recruit, train and support 100 Wellbeing Ambassadors – part of a campaign we are running with the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Keji Moses.
