Join us in Canterbury for Mental Elf 24!

Mental Elf is on Sunday 24 November in Canterbury starting at 10am. Fun for all the family – while raising vitals funds for East Kent Mind.

East Kent Mind is delighted to be hosting a new Mental Elf 5km festive family fun run on Sunday 24 November in Canterbury. Choose to walk, run or jog – the event is open to all abilities and ages.

Mental Elf is a unique event that focuses on bringing people together, not only to fundraise but to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing locally. It promotes the benefits of physical activity, connecting with people and doing something to help others. Join a community with over 50 Local Mind Mental Elf events happening up and down the country.

The event takes place at 10am on Sunday 24 November at Canterbury Umbrella. Everyone who completes the fun run will receive a medal and we also have elf hats for adults to wear.

The event’s route runs along the River Stour and takes in Todler’s Cove and the riverside area of Hambrook Marshes. It is a peaceful and attractive area and wonderfully flat with seating dotted along its route – this makes it perfect for less experienced runners. All profits from ticket sales will go directly to East Kent Mind, enabling us to support more local people with their wellbeing.

Simon Dolby (Development Lead at East Kent Mind) said: “We are proud to be hosting our first Mental Elf event – which aims to raise money for your local mental health charity.

“Physical activity such as walking or running, has been found to help improve mood and sleep and can also play a key role in recovery from a mental health problem.

“Joining our fun, inclusive 5km family fun run is a great opportunity to boost your mental and physical health – while also raising vital funds to help us in our fight to make sure everyone in East Kent with a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.”
