Golf challenge raised £3,600 for charity
The sun shone down on a fantastic day of golf, community spirit, and fundraising as supporters came together to raise over £3,600 for East Kent Mind.
The perfect weather set the stage for a memorable event, filled with friendly competition and generous giving.
A standout highlight was the “Beat the Pro” challenge, where Richard held his own admirably, only being beaten by two golfers – Ali Kingston and Amos Brazier – and raising £420 in the process.

Artist Shelli Birkett presents her painting to Simon Dolby and Jen Rutherford
Another on-course moment to remember came from Dan Smith, who – despite flying in from Morocco at 3am after playing on the Clutch Tour – delivered some truly incredible drives on the 14th hole. Max Rutherford, Golf Manager, gave him a run for his money at times, but Dan proved a tough competitor to challenge!
Meanwhile, a hardworking team of volunteers – Ayla, Jorja, myself and my mum – kept energy levels up by selling £280 worth of drinks, chocolates, and scotch eggs.
Huge thanks also go to my wonderful reception team – Alison Mason, Ayla and Heather Hardy – who sold packages and raffle prizes like absolute pros. Their energy and enthusiasm helped make the day such a success.
A significant portion of the funds came from the ever-popular Trump Packages, as well as the raffle and auction of rounds at Nizels and Royal St George’s.
Thanks to entry fees and the incredible generosity of artist Shelli Birkett, whose painting added a special touch to the day, the grand total soared beyond £3,600.
To everyone who played a part – whether volunteering, donating, playing, or bidding – a heartfelt thank you. There were far too many of you to name individually.
