Amazing golf day will champion wellbeing

Charity campaigner Richard Leitch is staging a golf day this autumn at Canterbury Golf Club to raise funds for East Kent Mind.

Richard has organised the annual John Solomon Memorial Day since 2012 and has picked the mental health charity to benefit this year.

To date the event – raised in memory of his father-in-law – has raised more than £116k for various charities. This year Richard hopes more than £10k will be raised for East Kent Mind. The golf day is already a sell-out with 128 players signed-up.

Richard said: “We have every hole sponsored and will stage a charity auction and raffle. It is amazing the event has grown so big since.”

In the early days the memorial event was held at Westgate and Birchington Golf Club but outgrew the venue.

Richard added: “I would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers and golfers because if it was not for you all I would not be able to do this. I cannot be prouder of what we have all achieved and I thank you all.”

Simon Dolby, Fundraising Lead at East Kent Mind, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to be the beneficiary for this amazing event. The funds raised will help our charity support the mental health needs so so many people locally.”
