Dr Palmer named as NHS Clinical and Care Professional Lead
The CEO of Mind in Bexley and East Kent has been appointed as the mental health lead by the NHS in south east London.
Dr David Palmer has been appointed by NHS South East London Integrated Care Board into the Bexley place Clinical Care & Professional Leadership role for mental health. He will take on these responsibilities while continuing as Chief Executive of the mental health charity he has led for 15 years.
The changes aim to support mental health services by:
- Improve patient access to preventative mental health services
- Improve the care path experience of mental health patients
- Reduce social isolation
- Removing barriers to acute mental health services for patients in crisis
- Smoothing links between health services
- Research what is working and identify elements of services that need improving or can be more effective
Diana Braithwaite, the Place Executive Lead for Bexley on the NHS South East London Integrated Care Board, announced Dr Palmer’s appointment along with seven other senior appointments focusing on cancer, frailty, medicine optimisation and community-based care.
She said: “Congratulations to all our successful Clinical & Care Professional Leads – I am very pleased to welcome them to NHS SEL ICB and look forward to them bringing their energy, enthusiasm, and leadership skills to drive forward local integrated system-wide change and improving the health and wellbeing outcomes for our population.”
