Are you caring for someone for 35 hours a week or more? You could be entitled to a Carer’s Allowance

Around £4.5 million of Carer’s Allowance goes unclaimed in the Canterbury district each year – even though people are entitled to it.

This money could be yours – and it only takes a few minutes to find out. If you’re 16 or over, take home less than £151 a week and provide substantial care for someone for 35 hours or more, you could qualify.

Life’s tough if you’re giving up your time to look after a relative’s personal care and household tasks. However, your claim could affect the benefits of the person you are caring for, so its important to check with DWP before applying.

Perhaps a family member or friend could help you fill in the form? Or you can get free help from Citizens Advice at Canterbury: 01227 452762 Whitstable/Herne Bay: 01227 740647
