Fantastic turnout for Rise and Run
More than 120 runners took part in East Kent Mind’s new Rise and Run event.
Staged in Whitstable, the 5km event was waved off by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Alister Brady, and raised more than £2,500 for the charity’s mental health services.
Groups from across East Kent took part including Whitstable Road Runners, Team Green Beans, Ashford Striders, Misfits, the Overrun Project, Run Together Canterbury, Thanet Roadrunners, Tasha’s Runners, Beginners 2 Runners, Canterbury and Faversham, Speedy Pluckers, Learn to Shine School, Snap Fitness Whitstable, Invicta East Kent, Hernhill Herons and Reluctant Runners.
The top fundraisers were Kim Growns and Ella Vousden and the team from Starbucks who raised £260 and the best costume at the event was won Run Together Canterbury.
Simon Dolby from the event team said: “I want to thank everyone for supporting us and enabling this event to be such a success. Huge thanks to the 20 marshals led by Lauren Mansfield, to the Marine Hotel in Tankerton, volunteers at Whitstable Junior Park Run, G4S and to Eye Sky UK for providing drone footage.”
